Today’s prompt is really hard, I’ve been thinking about it for days, and as I’m beginning to write this, I’m still trying to figure out what it would be.

Saddest Anime Scene

A lot of anime have made me sad, not a whole lot of scenes made me physically cry. And the one scene I thought of that made me cry a lot was not really sad, more bittersweet. I still think I’ll talk about that one, since there’s also an anime death prompt, and I want to save the really sad stuff for that.

The anime it’s from is predictable: Anohana. The anime is pretty sad all the way through, but the ending is what’s infamous for bringing the waterworks. And for me, it definitely did. But I was crying out of relief more than anything while watching it.

If you’re not familiar with this show, it revolves around Jinta, who has all but given up. He doesn’t go to high school, but he lives with seeing the ghost of a former friend, Menma. She died back when they were in elementary school, and the thought of treating her poorly just minutes before she died haunts him.

So, it’s already kind of a downer, but it tries to stay lighthearted for the most part. The ending is very emotional, though. And I tried so hard not to cry, but it didn’t last long.

Majority of the show was Jinta and his old friends finding a way to help Menma’s soul rest. And it was just so sweet to watch them work so hard for their friend. It’s such a bittersweet show, and I’m upset that I always forget that I watched it. I’ve had such a hard time remembering some shows I watch if I haven’t written many posts regarding it. And it doesn’t help that I watched it at least a year ago. But I remember the last scene so vividly.

It made me cry hard. Generally, if I’m crying due to a show, it’s like one or two tears. This one, I was almost sobbing. And it wasn’t out of actual sadness, I was more happy than anything. If you’ve seen the show, you may understand why, and I wish I could explain more without spoiling it.

So, that’s my answer. It was more of what anime scene made me cry the most, but whatever.

I’ll see you guys tomorrow! And remember that I’ll have a second, long post on Friday plus the challenge post.
