I heard about this anime from Carla of Pop Culture Literary during the July OWLS Tour with the topic “mirrors.” She wrote an excellent post on the anime, and you should definitely read it. It’s one of my favorite OWLS posts ever. You can read it here.
I. Love. This. Show. I heard about it for the first time back in July during OWLS tour on “Mirrors,” or self-image. Arria discussed The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga, and how the two main characters see themselves and each other. From the minute I read the post, I was excited to learn that there would be an anime about it!
You should check her post out too, here!
So, I feel kinda bad I didn’t end up posting yesterday for this, but I was not feeling up to writing. I had stuff I was doing and then I played a game with a friend, and then I had to finish up my other post, so but the time I was going to sit down and do it, I was just too tired to do it.
I’m making up for it by answering both day 16 and 17’s prompts today.
I’ve done a list of LGBT+ comics on Webtoons mainly, but there are plenty of comics I love that don’t necessarily fall into that spectrum. So, here’s just a few of the mass of webcomics I read. I’ll almost definitely do another one of these.
I’m not entirely sure where to start on this one. I guess I’ll begin with how I came to hear of this show. A few different things convinced me to check it out. I have a few mangas that advertised it, so there was that. Then I saw some fanart I’d mistaken for Noragami fanart floating around, so I was a bit curious. Then I heard some people get annoyed with the popularity of Yuri on Ice competing with this for a reason I will soon explain.
I thought this would be a fun post, something I haven’t really thought much about. And let me tell you, narrowing it down to just ten is very difficult. I had thirteen I wanted to include, but that’s a strange number to have for a list, so I had to eliminate three. Like most of my lists, this is not in any particular order, just the one I wrote them down in. I hate playing favorites, and many things I say are my favorite are really just one of many.
Right off the bat: this show surprised me, as it did many other people as well. I figured it would just be another show I’d watch on the side, nothing I really cared too much about. But I found myself anticipating the next episode every week. The music is great, the art is beautiful, the characters are lovable. Not much to dislike here. Oh, and it’s set in a kingdom, with princes as some of the main characters, which is my one weakness.
Oh, of course. The show that has blown up my Twitter feed, whether it be voice actors of the show, fans, or bloggers. So, many people have exploded over this show. At first, I didn’t understand. “It’s just another sport anime,” I thought. And then I remembered, “Oh wait, this is the one sport I like. I guess I’ll try it.” And, boy was that a great decision.
