30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Twenty-eight — 04/13/2018

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Twenty-eight

**I apologize for taking another day off from this yesterday. It was nearly 10 pm by the time I remembered to this and I wasn’t in the mood to write it.**

Which Position Would You Play?

I shouldn’t even be allowed to touch a volleyball. The last time I did, all rules left my head and I made myself look like an idiot.

I don’t do well in any sort of game involving a ball. When we had gym class in elementary and middle school, if I even attempted to contribute to the game, I’d get the stink eye from a boy who was way too into it, and in the heat of the moment, I’d do something wrong. The only time I ever remember playing volleyball in school, I stayed planted in my spot, would serve when I had to, and purposefully avoided touching the ball.

I never liked playing sports anyway, but my classmates ruined any sort of hope I had to play anything.

So, in the sense of this question, I would prefer not to play at all. I’d want to be the manager, really. I think that’d be fun! I’m just going to say manager counts in this question just so I have an answer at all.

In a perfect world where I actually enjoy participating in sports and am good at it, I’d be the setter. No shock there, really. Or the pinch server like Yamaguchi. It’d be easier to focus on honing one skill rather than many.

The only sport I’ll ever do is dance, or ice skating if I could get good enough. I’m flexible, but I have no strength in my arms. My legs are all I have going for me.

Finally, there are only two left to go! I remember being all optimistic at the beginning of this that I’d get them out every day as promised, but my laziness and other life things got in the way of that. But I’m glad I’ve had something to write every day when I can.

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 3 — 03/13/2018

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 3

…Oh my god, I’ve gotten myself in trouble from watching this show. I delved into the fandom head-first way back in season one, and now that I’ve finished this show, I think I’ll be depending on it even more. And when I finished it, I didn’t really know what to do with myself anymore. It’s the longest series I’ve finished in a long time, which seems a bit strange since it’s not horribly long. But, with the way I watch anime now, I don’t watch more than two or three episodes of a show at once, so it takes me forever just to get through a 24 or 25 episode series that’s been completed.

Along with it being 60 episodes, much longer than I generally dedicate myself to, it’s also about a sport. One that I’ve never in my life had any interest in, and the one time I played it for PE class in sixth grade, all I did was serve and watch everyone else play. I didn’t think I would find much enjoyment in this show, since the sport didn’t appeal to me, but this show is a lot more than just boys playing volleyball. It’s about teamwork, friendship, and achieving your dreams. And I love every second of it.

Improvement through Love: Yuri!!! on Ice — 02/17/2018

Improvement through Love: Yuri!!! on Ice

I can’t avoid talking about this show more. With getting the Blu Ray last week and seeing all of the figure skating from the Olympics these past two weeks, this anime has been nagging in the back of my mind, and I’ve realized a lot of things while rewatching it.

Plus with Valentine’s Day being Wednesday, I¬†had to do something in honor of it, even if my initial plan fell through. I’ll be combining the topics of competition (the theme of OWLS this month), and the theme love shown throughout the anime.

My Thoughts On: Haikyu!! Season 2 — 01/20/2018

My Thoughts On: Haikyu!! Season 2

I’ll start this out by apologizing for being late in posting this. I had most of it ready on Thursday, but I ended up not finishing it up and I was going to make my last changes yesterday, but I spent the time I would have worked on this getting my hair done, so it had to be postponed until today.

Apologies over.

In the months I’ve been watching this anime, I’ve learned some things. For one, I learned more than I ever wanted to know about volleyball, and I could hold an intellectual discussion on the sport with no problems. Another thing is, it’s one of those shows that is hard to like in a casual way. I thought I’d only like it a little bit, but even from those first couple episodes, I realized that would not be the case. It doesn’t help that the fanbase is huge and very much active.

Youmacon 2017 Cosplay Photos! — 11/10/2017

Youmacon 2017 Cosplay Photos!

If you follow my Twitter, I’m sure you saw some updates this past weekend on the con I went to in Detroit, Youmacon. It was my fourth year going, but it was the first time I was able to go all three days, since I now have no high school or college on Fridays. And of course, I wanted to cosplay. The first day, I used my Princess Mononoke cosplay, which I’ve posted about before. The other two days, I used the Tobio Kageyama cosplay I just bought a couple weeks ago. And on that Saturday, I found out about a Haikyu!! photoshoot that was happening, which I ended up attending.

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 1 — 10/06/2017

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 1

If you weren’t aware, I’m not by any means a fan of sports. I can count on one hand the number of sports animes I’ve watched and only half of those I actually enjoyed. But this show, for some reason, is absolutely incredible. I’ve only seen season one, as you can tell by the title, but even when I got maybe five episodes in, I knew I wanted to talk about it as soon as possible.

Top 10 Anime Openings — 08/10/2017

Top 10 Anime Openings

I thought this would be a fun post, something I haven’t really thought much about. And let me tell you, narrowing it down to just ten is very difficult. I had thirteen I wanted to include, but that’s a strange number to have for a list, so I had to eliminate three. Like most of my lists, this is not in any particular order, just the one I wrote them down in. I hate playing favorites, and many things I say are my favorite are really just one of many.

Prince of Stride: Alternative Review — 06/30/2017

Prince of Stride: Alternative Review

I’ve never been much of a sports anime fan, due to my lack of interest in sports. I grew up never watching any sports, unlike most people living in the United States. So, when introduced to the genre of sports anime, I had a hard time finding ones I liked. The first one I watched was Free! and I thought it was alright, but I never got into it much. Next my friend showed me Kuroko no Basuke, but I only got through six episodes. Next came Yuri on Ice, which like everyone else, I loved. So, I decided to give sports anime another chance. I found Prince of Stride when scrolling through Twitter, since I follow Funimation’s page, and they were advertising the BluRay of it. I thought the art looked nice, and I recognized some voice actors in it, so I gave it a go.

My Thoughts On: Yuri!!! on ICE Episodes 7-12 — 01/28/2017

My Thoughts On: Yuri!!! on ICE Episodes 7-12

I finished this show last night at about 1:40 am. I was determined to finish it so I could write this, but I was also reluctant because that would mean I couldn’t watch it for the first time anymore.

This show exceeded all expectations I had. I’d heard about it sometime in early October¬†before it was aired. I read the description, but it didn’t strike me as something I would love to watch. I would see posts about it on Twitter for months, but I generally ignored it all. Then in December, my friend decided to start it and convinced me to watch it. I didn’t start it until the beginning of this month, but once I did, I knew I made the right decision.
